The Fine Food Specialist Culinary Bursary was founded by company Director Drogo Montagu. Its aim is to engage culinary students with the role of food in history and social culture to further enhance their studies.
A bursary of £1000 is awarded annually to one person who is pursuing a culinary education. The closing date for entries is 28th February each year.
The Fine Food Specialist Culinary Bursary is a great opportunity for culinary students. Applicants must be either current culinary students or have received an official offer of a place at a culinary teaching institution. They must have clear career objectives – this could apply to those who are studying to become any of the following:
- Food Producer
- Food Journalist or Writer
- Food Stylist
- Food Photographer
- Recipe Developer
Applicants must also be:
- Studying in full time education within the UK
- 16+ years of age
Applicants are required to submit a 1200 word essay which discusses the changing role of food in a culture of your choice. Essays that are shorter or longer than the 1200 word count by more than a 10% margin will be discounted.

In the body of the email please include your daytime telephone contact number, permanent address, course information and expected year of graduation. Please also write, in no more than 300 words, a little about yourself and your intentions upon completion of your education.
The bursary will be paid in one instalment directly to the applicant. Before the payment is made, the applicant must submit evidence of full-time study.
The successful applicant will be notified by the 28th April of each year.
