Burts Blue cheese is made from Cheshire milk in Alrincham, which is pasteurised and vegetarian. This delicious blue cheese has a bloomy rind and boasts a slight saltiness within its creamy texture, with ‘mould’ veins running through the cheese after Penicillin Roqueforti is added. The cheese is pierced a few times throughout the process, which increases the amount of veins, giving it plenty of character and flavour.

The longer the cheese is left, the softer the cheese becomes as it matures and has a faint aroma of mushrooms. Claire Burt started making cheese as a hobby, but pursued it as a business after winning awards for her blue cheese – it’s a must try! Pair with an oat cake, and a drizzle of honey or a little pear chutney.
