Wild Rock Samphire, +/-250g
Rock samphire is known to be a bit of a Marmite herb due to its very strong flavour. The leaves are thick and succulent and look like antlers in their shape. They are found by the sea cliffs and on the foreshore. The flavour of the rock samphire is slightly aniseedy, salty and fennel-like.
This is a stunning looking and tasting herb to cook alongside fish dishes. Rock Samphire is very high in Vitamin C and was one of the plants used by sailors many years ago to help fight scurvy disease!
