There's hardly anything more simple than this easy brûléed figs recipe, but that's the beauty here. Simply cut the figs in half, sprinkle them with plenty of icing sugar, then either place them into a hot oven for 25 minutes or blowtorch them for even quicker results. They become jammy, soft, extra sweet and the perfect topper for any festive dessert, or even an accompaniment to an artisan cheese board.

As many fresh figs as you need

A generous sprinkling of icing sugar
Directions
Prepare the figs: Slice your figs in half, then dust them generously with icing sugar.
Brûlée the figs: Either pop the figs on a baking sheet and cook for 25 minutes in a 200°C oven, or alternatively, scorch the top of the figs with a blowtorch until the icing sugar has crystalised in parts and the figs feel jammy and soft.
