Ready in just five minutes with no cooking required, this is an easy sashimi recipe for a light lunch, elegant starter or Japanese-inspired meal. The homemade salmon sashimi dressing brings together salty, tangy, nutty and aromatic flavours without overpowering the salmon.

Ingredients
Salmon Sashimi with Sesame and Ginger Dressing
- 2 x 180g sashimi grade salmon fillets
- 1 small spring onion very finely sliced
- 1 inch piece ginger, peeled and very finely chopped or pickled
- 2 tbsp light soy sauce
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds, plus extra to garnish
Directions
Method
- Step 1, Make the salmon sashimi dressing by combining the spring onion, ginger, light soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil and sesame seeds in a small bowl. Mix thoroughly until everything is well combined.
- Step 2, Remove the skin from the sashimi grade salmon fillets. Using a sharp knife, slice the salmon diagonally against the grain, then arrange the slices neatly across a serving plate.
- Step 3, Spoon the sashimi sauce over the sliced salmon, making sure the dressing is evenly distributed. Finish with additional sesame seeds and serve the salmon sashimi immediately.
