One may not immediately think of pigeon as being a delicious source of poultry meat. But to jump to this conclusion would be an error. At Fine Food Specialist, as part of our excellent range of specialist poultry, we have a great choice of pigeon produce for our customers to choose from.

Our range contains oven ready wood pigeons, as well as squab pigeon and frozen wood pigeon breast. This choice is one of a number of exciting collections of specialist poultry available from Fine Food Specialist. 

Woodpigeon meat is particularly gamey in flavour, with a notably succulent texture and taste once indulged in.

Wood pigeon is a fantastic bird to eat in the winter months. Succulent and gamey, it is a great alternative to poultry and will make an impression on your guests. Serve roasted wood pigeon with wild mushrooms, caramelised button onions, and a deep, glossy port jus; or try our pigeon pie recipe for an impressive dinner party dish. 

Wood pigeon breast is the perfect size for a starter. It is best served medium rare and if cooked correctly is tender and full of flavour. It is delicious served with a rich buttery parsnip puree and creamed leeks. These breasts have been skinned and prepared, ready to go straight into your pan.

Alternatively, we also offer squab pigeon, which is a domesticated pigeon. They are available year round and are a fantastic alternative to wild wood pigeon, which is very seasonal. Squab are traditionally killed in a way that retains the blood in the bird and both enhances the flavour and colour of the meat. We have both 450g and 550g birds. Please note these birds still have their innards and are not oven-ready.

Delightful with items such as mushrooms, onions and vegetables, pigeons can easily become a central element of a delicious dinner, and provide a really memorable meal for you and your family or friends.
