In the same family as mozzarella, burrata is a hugely popular Italian cheese due to its silky smooth cream that oozes out of the knot of cheese. This soft cheese is hand-made from stretched Mozzarella which is shaped into a sphere and injected with a mix of fresh cream, resulting in a far creamier and lighter product than Mozzarella. A traditional Apulian delight, burrata from the Maldera farm, is an authentic and delicious accompaniment to crusty bread or on top of pasta or pizza. We recommend serving it with white peaches, Prosciutto di Parma and mint, drizzled with a good extra virgin olive oil. Best served as a summer starter with a glass of rose!
Burrata Cooking Suggestions
Serving: Serve burrata at room temperature to fully appreciate its creamy texture.
Grilling & Searing: Lightly grill or sear burrata for a warm, smoky contrast to the cool interior.
Topping: Use as a topping for pizza, added right after baking for a soft, melty effect.
Breaking Apart: Break apart burrata and stir into warm pasta dishes for a rich, creamy finish.
Frying: Bread and fry burrata for a crispy outer shell and gooey inside.
