Fiddleheads are an interesting-looking vegetable, that is native to North America and Canada. They are popular for their peculiar shape, distinctive taste and amazing health benefits. Fiddleheads are the coiled fronds of young, tender fern shoots. The flavour of them has been described as a mix between asparagus aand broccoli, with vibrant green colour and a juicy inside.
Fiddleheads have a short season so make sure to grab them whilst they’re around!
Fiddleheads must be cleaned and thoroughly – they aren’t to be eaten raw! To serve, boil them for 10-15 minutes, before sautéing them in butter, garlic and a squeeze of fresh lemon.
