Scallops

If you have been wanting to broaden your culinary horizons, then indulging in beautiful seafood products is a great area to sample. Whether you have tried a fair number of shellfish varieties over the years or are a complete beginner, it’s fair to say that the perfect specialist shellfish ingredient can certainly be the centre of a beautiful meal.

At Fine Food Specialist, as part of our wider shellfish section, we have a great range of scallops for you to browse through and buy.

Scallops can be cooked in a number of ways. Check out our recipes for grilled Brixham Scallops with a garlic herb butter, or if you prefer a summery dish you could watch our Scallop Sashimi recipe video on our Drogo’s Kitchen YouTube channel.

Another scallop recipe that will be fantastic to try for a dinner party is our pan-fried scallops with a celeriac puree and a port jus.

Scallops are renowned for their unique flavour and texture, which is softer and sweeter than those found with many other specialist shellfish varieties.

Our range at Fine Food Specialist includes delicious Japanese scallops, which have a melt in the mouth quality. The Japanese scallops come frozen, so are a handy shellfish to have in the freezer for the next time you want a delicious seafood meal. Additionally, these scallops are sashimi grade, so can be used for raw dishes such as ceviche. These scallops are highly coveted by seafood aficionados and foodies all over the world, as they are truly the best you can get. They have not been soaked or treated like other scallops often are, because these scallops are of a superior quality and need little else to enhance their delicious flavour. If you do decide to cook them, we recommend to fry in seaweed butter.

As well as our Japanese scallops, we also offer an ingredient closer to home,  Brixham scallops, which come from British shores.

The Brixham scallops are roe-in, plump and sweet in flavour - truly delicious! A great way to cook these at home is by grilling them in the shell with a knob of homemade garlic herb butter and sprinkling of breadcrumbs. The half shells that the scallops come in are also a stunning way to present these lovely fresh scallops.

We also sell live scallops in their shells for you to buy, helping to ensure the truest level of freshness upon arrival. They look fabulous served in their shell, whether they have been grilled on a BBQ or in your kitchen, they will make a stunning centrepiece to your dishes. You can also purchase tubs of white scallop meat and jumbo wild roeless scallops from Fine Food Specialist’s online store.
