A mix of immunity boosting root vegetables: ginger, turmeric and galangal.
Ginger is loaded with antioxadants, that enhances health in a number of ways, including nausea, reducing inflmation and reducing pain. Ginger can be added to stews, curries, soups or boiled to make a delicious tea.
Fresh turmeric contains a chemical called curcumin, which makes it a very healthy root that is famous for being able to reduce inflammation, lower cholesterol levels and even help with symptoms of depression. Turmeric is often found as a dried powder, that is used in curries to add a bright orange colour and flavour. Fresh turmeric can be grated, and used similarly to ginger, but be careful – the orange colour can stain!
Galangal is a very popular root from South-East Asia. Its’ benefits range from preventing cancer, supporting digestive health, good skin and brain health. Typically you may find the fragrant and zingy flavour of galangal in Thai soups and curries.
