This tropical root vegetable is considered to be one of the fist cultivated plants in human history, perhaps due to its numerous health benefits which include boosting of the immune system and digestive system, and contributing to good skin and vision. Taro root can only be eaten when cooked and has very similar properties to a potato. Try boiling cubes of taro and serving hot with butter and salt, or seasoning and deep-frying.
